How to use

How to place it

  1. Remove the source

    Clear away overripe fruit, rinse out empty bottles and empty the bin. That is what draws the fruit flies in.

  2. Shake the bottle

    Give the bottle a quick shake before you open it.

  3. Remove the cap

    Take the cap off the bottle. The trap cannot be closed again.

  4. Dab the funnel dry

    Dab the yellow funnel dry with a piece of kitchen roll, so the flies find their way in faster.

  5. Stick it next to the source

    Stick the trap in place with the stick and go strip within a metre of the fruit or the bin, out of reach of children and pets. Replace it after 3 weeks or when it is full.

The Super Ninja Fruit Fly Trap catches fruit flies in the kitchen, by the fruit bowl and around the bin. A lure of vinegar and apple juice concentrate draws the adult fruit flies in, and once inside they cannot get back out. Available in packs of 2, 4, 6 or 12 traps.

Does the fruit fly trap also catch fungus gnats?
No, it is made for fruit flies. Fungus gnats from the potting soil are drawn to the colour yellow, not to the smell of vinegar and fruit; for those, push yellow sticky traps into the pot. The trap is not meant for drain flies from the plughole either.

Does an insect lamp also work against fruit flies?
Hardly. Fruit flies are drawn to the smell of fermentation, not to light. That is why this trap lures them with vinegar and apple juice concentrate.

How do I dispose of the trap?
With your household waste. Do this when the trap is full or the fruit flies are gone, and replace it after 3 weeks at the latest.
