What is a fake wasp nest?
A fake wasp nest, also called a wasp nest decoy, is an imitation wasp nest to hang up outdoors, without lure or insecticide. The Super Ninja Waspinator is one: you fold it open, fill it with plastic bags or other light material, pull it closed and hang it up by the loop. There are 2 in a pack.
When should you hang a fake wasp nest?
Hang a fake wasp nest in spring, before the queens start their nests: they come out as the weather warms up (BPCA), and German wasp queens look for nest sites from mid March (BWARS). Then leave it up for the whole season. If you only hang it in summer, there may already be a nest nearby.
Where should you hang a fake wasp nest?
Hang a fake wasp nest in a sheltered spot where it is easy to see, close to the place you want to keep calm: under a canopy, on the veranda, by the shed or under a parasol. Do not hide it in the planting, and hang it by the loop at the top, not by the drawstring.
How many fake wasp nests are in a pack?

Does a fake wasp nest work if there is already a nest?
A fake wasp nest does not help once there is already a nest: it is meant for spring, while a queen is still looking for a site, and does nothing against a nest that is already there or against wasps that come to the table for sugar in late summer. What is the difference between a fake wasp nest and a wasp trap?
A wasp trap draws wasps in with a sweet lure and catches them; a fake wasp nest lures nothing and catches nothing. So a trap pulls wasps towards wherever it hangs, while you hang a fake wasp nest right by the spot where you sit.
