How to use

How to use it

  1. Check where they are

    Around the fruit, the bin or the sink, they are fruit flies. If they fly up from the potting soil when you water, they are fungus gnats.

  2. Prepare the fruit fly trap

    Give the bottle a quick shake, take off the cap and dab the yellow funnel dry.

  3. Stick it next to the source

    Stick the trap in place with the stick and go strip within a metre of the fruit or the bin, out of reach of children and pets. Replace it after 3 weeks.

  4. Sticky traps in the pot

    Peel the film off a sticky trap and push it upright into the potting soil: one per pot, two for a large pot or a heavy infestation.

How do I know if I have fruit flies or fungus gnats?
Look at the place, not at the insect. Around the fruit, the bin or the sink, they are fruit flies; if they fly up from the potting soil when you water, they are fungus gnats.

Why are there two kinds of trap in this pack?
Because the two flies are drawn to different things. Fruit flies go for the smell of fermentation, fungus gnats for the colour yellow and damp potting soil. So one trap will not catch both.
