Moth traps

A moth trap shows whether moths are flying about in your home, where they are and how many there are. Which moth trap you need depends on the moth: in the kitchen and the food cupboard you find pantry moths, in the wardrobe clothes moths. Each Super Ninja moth trap is a pheromone trap that attracts the adult males of one species and holds them on a sticky layer. Both traps come in packs of 4 or 10 and stay active for 3 months.

How does a pheromone moth trap work?

A pheromone moth trap releases the scent that female moths use to attract males of their own species, and holds the males that come to it on a sticky layer. Because every moth species has its own pheromone, a pantry moth trap does not catch clothes moths and the other way round. The catch shows you whether, where and how many moths there are. A pheromone trap does not catch females, eggs or larvae, so clearing out, cleaning and sealed storage are still needed.

How many moth traps do you need?

Start with one trap per cupboard where you see moths: one in the food cupboard, one in each wardrobe. Choose the pack of 10 if you want to keep an eye on more cupboards or replace the traps after 3 months without ordering again.

How long does a moth trap last?

The pheromone in both traps stays active for 3 months. Replace the trap after that, or sooner if the sticky layer is full. Unopened, the traps keep for 3 years.

What should you look for when choosing a moth trap?

Look first at the species: a moth trap only works if the pheromone matches the moth you have. Then check how long the pheromone stays active, whether you can hang or stick the trap where you need it, and whether the traps are packed separately, so you only open what you use.
