Where to put them

Within a metre of the source, on a flat surface. Not on the windowsill and not on the dining table: fruit flies follow smell, not light, so a trap far from the fruit catches little.

How to use it

Unscrew the cap and wipe the yellow funnel dry with a piece of kitchen paper, which helps the flies find their way in faster. Do not close the trap again once it is open. When it is full or the flies are gone, throw it away.

How quickly does it work?

The first flies are usually in the trap within a day. Getting rid of all of them takes longer, because new ones keep hatching from eggs already in the fruit. So deal with the cause at the same time: overripe fruit, a full bin, a dirty drain.

For a large kitchen or more than one problem spot, there is also the pack of 4, 6 or 12 traps.
